June 2, 2008: SUPER special session on Scalability in Semantic Computing at IEEE ICSC 2008 Print E-mail

Special sessions at ICSC2008 are an important modality to supplement the regular program with a focused and in-depth view at a specific field. The Scalability in Semantic Computing special session will be devoted to issues connected to SUPER and the project itself.

THE CONFERNECE

The second IEEE International Conference on Semantic Computing (ICSC2008) builds on the success of ICSC2007 as an international interdisciplinary forum for researchers and practitioners to present research that advances the state of the art and practice of Semantic Computing, as well as identifying the emerging research topics and defining the future of Semantic Computing. The conference particularly welcomes interdisciplinary research that facilitates the ultimate success of Semantic Computing.

The event is located in Santa Clara, California, the heart of Silicon Valley. The technical program of ICSC2008 includes tutorials, workshops, invited talks, paper presentations, panel discussions, demo sessions, and an industry track. Submissions of high-quality papers describing mature results or on-going work are invited.

Areas of interest include:

  • Natural Language Processing
  • Multimedia Analysis
  • Audio and Speech Processing
  • Content and Information Management
  • Knowledge Engineering
  • Data Mining
  • Semantic Database Theory and Systems
  • Service-oriented Architectures and Computing
  • Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services
  • Novell User Interfaces for Semantic Computing
The conference will take place August 4-7, 2008.

THE SPECIAL SESSION

The session will give an overview of some of the most important achievements of European research in its enterprize towards the realization of scalable and robust semantic technologies. In particular the papers presented throughout the session will address the following topics:

  • Semantic Service Orientation
  • Semantic Middleware
  • Semantic Web Reasoning
  • Identity and Reference Management
  • Semantic Business Process Management

Organizers:

  • Paolo Bouquet
  • Nuria De Lama
  • John Domingue
  • Elena Simperl
